Silchar, September 10: Nearly two years have passed since the assassination of Sukhendu Das, the GP president of Hatichhara in Barakhala, but the police have not been able to nab the culprits. Sukhendu’s father Sunil Das has said that he along with two of his grandchildren and daughter-in-law will stage a hunger strike either in front of the Chief Minister’s residence or at the site of the statue of Khudiram Basu. He also pleaded for handing over of the case to CBI.
Sitting next to her father-in-law Sunil Das, Sukhendu’s wife Rupa Das said that after the death of her husband Sukhendu Das, she was left helpless with her nine-year-old son Shubham Das and three-year-old Subhadi Das.
On March 19 last year, Hatichhara GP President Sukhendu Das (Sibul) was shot dead by miscreants in Tipaipunji of Hatichhara GP.
The BJP workers of the area said it had decided to boycott the next GP elections. They lamented that the government has not been able to nab the assassins of Sukhendu Das even after the BJP government at the state. They also questioned the role of Barakhala MLA Kishore Nath.
