Guwahati: June 28
The prices of all essential commodities haven’t soared up to five six times of the normal prices in Guwahati just an hour after the 14 day lock down was announced by the government on Friday. Potato and onion are vanished from the market and if one can trace it the price is as high as Rs 100 a kg. The citizen right groups criticised the government for its insensitive decision to not allowing opening of any grocery and vegetable shops during the lock down. The unscrupulous businessmen took advantage of the soaring demand and the government has done nothing to control the prices of all essential commodities. The markets on Friday , Saturday and Sunday were overcrowded ignoring the risk of infection. Earlier lock down had failed to contain the infections in the state. The citizens are now expressing doubt whether the 14 day long lock down will give any result.
