Bharat Petroleum’s entire network comprising LPG plants, distributors and delivery men made essential LPG cylinders available in all Homes in Assam in-spite of the severe difficulties in movement. LPG cylinders are delivered by boats into the flood affected areas. BPCL Delivery men were specially trained and equipped for Covid-19 measures like sanitisation, social distancing, digital transactions etc.
BPCL has converted WhatsApp into useful tool for customers to easily book LPG cylinders and make online payments at a click of button. Additional features have also been provided on the WhatsApp to check cylinder price, to track delivery position of cylinder, to watch safety videos, give feedback and suggestions.
Apart from WhatsApp, there are many other digital initiatives of Bharat Gas to the customers in Assam;

LPG cylinders are supplied from Numaligarh Refinery Marketing Terminal Bottling plant which has been working continuously throughout the lockdown due to the pandemic.
The plant at NRL follows all SOP for preventing the pandemic in the plant. Our plant was operating during the entire period of total lockdown to ensure that there was no scarcity of cooking gas. Our truck crews are on continuous duty for carrying LPG cylinders to distributorship network. Bharat Petroleum provides Bharat Arogya Yojana and Exgratia scheme for compensation in case of any eventuality due to Covid pandemic to our Corona Warriors.

The devastating flood in addition to the lockdown owing to pandemic posed a serious challenge to our delivery boys to reach cylinders at doorstep. Our delivery boys continued to work reaching by boat to around 12000 customers in Kalgachia area, 2000 customer in Tengagaon area in Barpeta District, 13000 customers in Lakhipur area of Goalpara District, about 8500 customers in Dhansirikash & Kharupetia of Darrang District, around 3000 customers in Borguli area of Nagaoan District.

Apart from this BPCL also successfully delivered free refill to 6.27 lacs of PMUY beneficiaries ( 93% of total customer base ) under PMGKY despite all odds due to lockdown and devastating flood. There are many villages in Assam specially in Char areas where
BPCL has been pioneer in adopting new technologies and launching initiatives to improve customer service and has also been very actively engaged in bringing normalcy to life in the difficult times of calamities in the past, it was done this time also. In current time, the company has developed many technological solutions for its customers for gas cylinder booking, timely delivery, cash-less payments, feedback and communication and creating safety awareness. Customers in Assam have also overwhelmingly responded by adopting these modern technologies.

Another challenge was to get food for them en – route where dhaba and hotels were closed. BPC Retail Outlets came forward for providing place to our drivers to cook food, take rest and have bath.
