The opposition demanded an investigation of the forest minister’s involvement in a land scam.
Mevar Kumar Jamatia is the General Secretary of the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura. He is Minister of Tribal Welfare and Forest in Biplab Kumar Deb ministry. He was elected an MLA from Asharambari Constituency.

Opposition MLAs alleged that Jamatia had grabbed large area of government land under the Forest Department “illegally”.
The Opposition MLAs shouted slogans demanding an investigation and clarification from the Chief Minister on this issue.
Mevar Kumar Jamatia in his reply said he would resign from the cabinet if they (Opposition MLAs) can prove that he has a connection with the land scam.
