Guwahati, January 26, 2026: The Guwahati Frontier of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) marked India’s 77th Republic Day with a grand and inspiring ceremony at the 1st Battalion parade ground in Sonapur. The event was a vibrant display of national pride, discipline, and recognition of exemplary service by the force’s personnel.Shri Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, Guwahati Frontier, served as the Chief Guest for the occasion. He began the proceedings by paying heartfelt floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, honoring the supreme sacrifices of fallen personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. This solemn moment set a tone of reverence for the day’s celebrations.Following the tribute, Shri Verma unfurled the National Flag and saluted it amid the resonant strains of the National Anthem, symbolizing the nation’s enduring commitment to unity, sovereignty, and constitutional values.The highlight of the event was a splendid march-past by smartly turned-out contingents of SSB personnel, showcasing precision, coordination, and military bearing. The parade was complemented by an engaging cultural programme that featured patriotic performances, reflecting the rich diversity and spirit of India.In a special recognition of outstanding contributions, Inspector General Verma presented Director General’s Medals and Commendation Certificates to deserving personnel. Additionally, he awarded medals conferred by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to those who played a key role in the successful organization and security arrangements for the Maha Kumbh, highlighting the SSB’s versatility in supporting major national events beyond border duties.The ceremony gained added grace with the presence of Smt. Rani Anuradha, Regional Sandiksha President, accompanied by members of the Sandiksha family, who joined in the celebrations and lent dignity to the occasion.The event was attended by senior officers, including Deputy Inspectors General Shri Rajeev Rana, Shri H.B.K.
