The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) along with 70 indigenous organisations and with amalgamation of a regional party -Sanjukta Anchalik Dal, Asom’, on Friday floated a political party to fight the coming Assam assembly elections next year. The formation of the new party was disclosed here by the organisers in a press conference.
The new party, named ‘Raijor Dal’ (People’s Party) was launched on Gandhi Jayanti and incidentally the day was also the birthday of jailed KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi. KMSS along with The 70 indigenous groups and the regional party, together spearheaded dthe anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act agitation.
The party raised the slogan of ‘Think globally, act locally’ for ushering in a new era of development in the state.
National Award winning film director Jahnu Barua, prominent advocate and political leader Arup Borbora, Lachit Sena leader Sringkhal Chaliha, along with KMSS and other leaders also addressed the press conference.
