Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shiladitya Dev, sitting MLA from Hojai constituency has announced quitting the party in a press conference in Hojai today. He levelled serious charges against a top state party leadear.
“I won’t resign, I will retire from the party,” said Dev, a politician whose communal and offensive statements have attracted wide-spread criticism.
Dev hinted that the state BJP has been divided into three camps- one headed by Sarbananda Sonowal another by Himanta Biswa and the third one by Ranjit Dass.
Political observers said that no political party will embrace the most vitriolic tongued polticiian of the state. They say he either will have to remain with BJP or has to quit politics.
