The district administration of Cachar Karimganj and Hailakandi are in favor of imposing lockdown as the Corona situation has spiraled out of control. Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy said with same tune. Members of various organizations gathered in foot of the statue of Khudiram on Monday to protest the administration’s indifference.
Kamal Chakraborty on behalf of March for Science, Soumyadeep Roychowdhury, Hillol Bhattacharya, Biswajit Das on behalf of the chorus, Neelu Das, Snigdha Nath on behalf of the Democratic Writers Association, Manas on behalf of the Wage Workers Union Arupvaishya for Social Harmony, Rahul Roy for People’s Science Society led the demonstration.
The leaders of these organization’s expressed concern at increasing number of Covid-19 deaths. They said that people are languishing in pain without treatment.
They demanded filling up of Medical College Vacancies, Introduction of Neurology, Nephrology, Urology Department in the College, Increasing the number of ICUs, providing appropriate medical treatment to Corona patients, proper treatment of patients other than Corona Infections, quality tests to prevent Corona infection etc. Demonstrations were also staged demanding the launch of ambulance service and improvement of the existing health services in Silchar Medical College.
Among others, Professor Paritosh Chandra Dutta, Pragya Anbesha, Nandadulal Saha, Gaura Chakraborty, Dr. Rajib Roy, Tamojit Saha, Neharul Ahmed Barabhuiyan, Sarwar Jahan Laskar addressed the gathering.
