Imphal, 28 August “ The Rejuvenation and Conservation of Nambul River project with an estimated costs of around Rs 95 crore is being taken up along the polluted stretch of the river from Iroisemba to Heirangoithong area is quite a success,” said Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while interacting with First NE on the sideline of an inspection of the clean Nambul project.
The Chief Minister said that the project, has allocations for laying sewage pipelines along both sides of the river from Iroishemba to Mongsangei in order to prevent sewerage falling into the river.
Highlighting the importance and peculiarity of Nambul river, N. Biren said that the tree sapling plantation of Bougainvillea along the river banks of Nambul river from the Thong Nambonbi to Keishampat is being taken up so as to attract tourists and beautify the landscape. The Chief Minister Revealed that urban waste would be treated by using latest technology at the Water Treatment Plant located at Mongsangei area.
Minister for Forest and Environment Awangbow Newmai, Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K. Robindro, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board S. Rajen, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP and others were present during the program.
