Guwahati, September 27, 2025.
In a major crackdown against wildlife crime, the 1st and 64th battalions of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), in coordination with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and the Forest Department, conducted a raid on Saturday at Jyoti Path, Bhetapara (Hatigaon) in Kamrup Metro district. During the operation, officials seized one tiger skin and eight deer skins, and arrested one person on the spot.

The SSB informed that earlier, on August 15 and September 7, 2025, similar seizures of wildlife articles had been made, with offenders arrested. Based on interrogation and intelligence gathered from those cases, today’s raid was successfully executed.

Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati, Mr. Sudhir Verma congratulated the team for the successful operation, stating that effective intelligence gathering and inter-agency coordination made the raid possible. He further assured that the SSB would continue to carry out such operations in the future to curb wildlife crimes.
