Silchar, August 20: Coinciding with the 76th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ was observed in a befitting manner here on Thursday.
Sadbhavana Diwas is aimed at promoting national integration and communal harmony among the people of all religions, languages and regions. However in view of prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic, the district administration on Wednesday issued an order for strict compliance of measures like social distancing norms, wearing of face mask, use of hand sanitizer, washing of hands, thermal screening etc while observing the Diwas.
Sadbhavana Diwas was observed at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy administered the pledge to the officials and employees. District Development Commissioner, Jessica Lalsim, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anis Rasul Mazumder and Assistant Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal were also present on the occasion.
Sadbhavana Diwas was also observed in Water Resources Department, District Elementary Education Department, PHE Department, DDIPR Office, Assistant Labour Commissioner Office,
Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, Fishery Development Office, etc.
Large congregations avoided while observing the Diwas. Moreover, all health related protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were strictly adhered to.
