High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India MD. Imran met Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb at the secretariat and handed over him different gifts from Bangladesh. During the meeting they discussed on the projects between Bangladesh and India related to Tripura. The CM informed that opening of Chittagong port will benefit both Bangladesh and India as goods will reach Tripura and therefrom to all of the Northeast through the port.He also said the work of constructing railway station ICP logistic hub SEZ has been started within 4km of Sabroom. He urged the govt of Bangladesh to motivate investors from Bangladesh to invest at the SEZ. He assured special benefits for investors form Bangladesh including cut in GST for 1st 5 years.

Other important matters of the conversation also includes fast completion of Agartala Akhaura rail line, conversion of Belonia Feni metergauge rail line to broad gauge, completion of border fencing at the remaining places, increasing export and import between Tripura and Bangladesh.

Speaking to media Mr Imran said that the ties between Tripura and Bangladesh are deep seeded. The people of Bangladesh remember with pride how Tripura help the freedom struggle in 1971.
